I personally really like using protein powders, they help me reach my recommended daily amount of protein if I’m falling short and I love the flavour they add to my recipes.
We all need protein for growth and repair and although it’s certainly possible (and quite easy) to get enough from a balanced diet without supplements I still like to keep some protein powder in my cupboard for days when I feel I need a bit extra (when I’m training a lot for example).
When it comes to choosing protein powders there is a vast difference in quality between the many brands out there, some have added artificial flavours, colours and sweeteners some taste like absolute crap. Since becoming pregnant again I have been even more wary about my supplementation choices and my quest to find an organic ‘clean’ protein powder led me to the Natural Nutrients website.
Regarding the quality of the Natural Nutrients protein powder here is a quote from their website: “We use whey from the hormone free milk of outdoor-reared grass fed cows, carefully process it with cross-flow microfilitration and ultrafiltration to guarantee a clean, natural and non-denatured protein powder with maximum nutritional value.” This was exactly what I was looking for and I was also happy to read that they use natural flavourings and stevia (a natural sweetener) to sweeten.
The guys at Natural Nutrients very kindly sent me some samples of the different flavours (Belgian chocolate, Madagascan vanilla, wild strawberry and natural )to try. Ive now tried all the flavours both on their own as a shake and in my recipes. The only one I wasn’t a huge fan of was the strawberry but I don’t really like strawberry flavoured products anyway. Even though I wasn’t as keen on this one it still didn’t have that artificial taste that you often get with flavoured protein powders. The Belgian chocolate was my favourite and I loved the Madagascan vanilla in my protein pancakes and avocado smoothie.
Here is an example of the ingredients and nutritional analysis for one of the powders (Belgian choice flavour).

Overall I only have positive things to say about these protein powders and can’t wait to try more products from this brand. You can order yours directly from the Natural Nutrients website here. They have also given me a discount code which is kate10 which you can use to get 10% off your order. Do let me know if you try them!
