The latest on a tornado that hit a Amazon warehouse in Illinois.
A tornado hit an Amazon warehouse Friday, killing one worker and injuring another, Chicago-area media reported. The 64-year-old man who died in the incident at the Echo Park facility had become pinned between a forklift and a set of ladders. Another employee suffered “extensive” injuries, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The storm left behind a large path of damage at the Amazon fulfillment center in nearby Crestwood. The storm also damaged a nearby quarry and a house, according to media reports.
Rescue workers searched the rubble of the roof and the plant for employees buried in the damaged building, according to NBC Chicago. “There are still a number of employees unaccounted for,” the company wrote in a statement to local media outlets.
